Heavy & XL Adrienne Teeguarden Sterling Silver TAOS Navajo Revival BELT BUCKLE

Taos Pueblo - People of the Blue Willow. 3.3" X 2.53 ".

Will accept a belt of up to. 56.2 grams = 1.81 Troy ounces. Stamped Taos Sterling Silver Belt Buckle. This Buckle was made by a talented Taos Pueblo artist named Adrienne Teeguarden.

It demonstrates a high level of skill in both design and jewelry construction. It is not signed with a hallmark. Also, it is not stamped "Sterling", but it is guaranteed to be Sterling Silver. It has very little tarnish on it on either side.

This buckle is in extra fine condition. There are no dents, cracks, or scratches, etc. I would not be surprised to learn that it has never been mounted on a belt or worn. Take a close look with the magnifier on the picture program. The design of the buckle is what most collectors would call Classical Revival. The surface treatment is what some folk call an "Old Pawn Finish" to make it look like old pawn pieces. It is generally achieved by using "0000"steel wool on the surface.

Harry Morgan made this sort of finish popular and had a few tricks to make it darker. This maintains the look of coin silver without the luster.

It is not old, and may be just several year old. This is a beautiful large Belt Buckle that demonstrates the classic art of Native smithing with simple bold stamping on a convex surface.
