RARE 1930's Cyma Sterling Silver Golf Belt Buckle Watch w/ 40 Inch Leather Belt. Around 1926, King Edward the VIII of England challenged Tavannes to custom make a watch that could be worn as a belt buckle while golfing. The watch was a huge success and around 1929 other watch makers, such as Cartier, Hermes and LeCoultre, started producing their own versions. Here we have a 1930's Cyma version of the watch. The sterling silver buckle measures approximately 2 3/8 inches wide x 1 1/8 inches high.
After pressing the discreet button on the frame of the buckle, a Cyma watch measuring approximately 27mm x 27mm opens to a 90 degree angle. The original silver metallic dial has large Arabic luminous numerals, luminous shaped hands, a seconds register at 6 o'clock and is marked "Cyma - Swiss". The dial is in great condition having only a few age marks. The crystal is in good condition. The inside case is stamped Brevet Dem. Sterling Silver - 0.935 - 0125968 - 286 - Swiss and has a few hallmarks. The dust cover is stamped "0.935 - 0125968 - 1286". The original movement is stamped Cyma - U.15 Fifteen Jewels - 2 Two Adjs. All screws and jewels are in good condition. This manual watch is crown wind and set.
Watch is running and keeping time. The watch buckle comes with a custom black leather belt measuring approximately 40 1/2 inches long x 1 inch wide. The belt has a sterling silver keeper so that this belt can be adjusted to your liking without having to punch holes.
Aside from needing an overall cleaning and polishing, this watch is in great condition. If you can find a compatible bracelet, this watch could also be worn on the wrist.
